Christmas Lunch - 14th December
14 of us (plus a little one) descend on the L'Auberge Du Noyer (Walnut Tree) for a Christmas Lunch. Excellent food and plenty of it - most of us waddled out. Thanks to all that supported this event.
Alternative Run - 6th October
Due to issues with the Medieval BBQ/Picnic, we had an alternative run for those that had shown an interest in joining in on an event on the 6th October. Eight of us met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. After coffee, four MGs (two MGBs, one MGF Trophy 160 & one MGTF) took a leisurely drive through the country lanes to Lac de Lavoud. Here we had lunch at Le Soleil Couchant.
Thanks to all those that supported this event.

CIRCUIT DES REMPARTS, ANGOULÉME - 18TH SEPTEMBER
On the Sunday we had a CMGO Club stand in the centre of Angouléme. This gave us all an opportunity to show off our pride and joys to the public as well advertising the club and representing the MG marque.
We managed a very respectable seven MGs on stand.
A big Thank You to Steve Edgar for helping me resolve the issue from the Saturday such that we had the right amount of wrist bands for entry to the Paddocks.

ANGOULéME - RALLYE des CLUBS DE CHARENTE - 17th September
10 MGs met up at KFC in the 'out of town' shopping area in Angouleme, before heading across the road to the start point for the Rallye des Clubs de Charente. Unfortunately Maggie and Tony fell ill the week before this event.
Once we had collected our Rallye packs (not without issues - again) we sett off on the prescribed course. It was difficult trying to keep us all together, even though we were nearly the last to leave the start point, we were navigating our way through the Saturday shoppers traffic and they were not interested in allowing the MGs to stay together. Once we got in to the countryside it was easier, although a couple of navigation errors were made, but we all arrived at the morning coffee stop and lunch (Chabanais) stop all together-ish.
It was a very pleasant drive with good weather and after a brief stop at the Chàteau at La Rochefoucauld, we ended up at the out of town shopping area in Champniers (same area as the start) for refreshments in V&B.

Run & Lunch - 8th September
The weather turned out well for our run on the 8th September. We met up at Eric & Gill's house in Sauze-Vaussais for coffee and pastries, then 4 MGs set off across the countryside to Civray, via Chauney and a comfort stop in the very picturesque village of Sommières-du-clain. In Civray we met up with Maggie & Tony and Brad & Jeannine for a lovely lunch at the Hotel Du Commerce.
After lunch we Set off to Charroux, where we provided with a guided tour of the remains of the Benedictine Charroux Abbey, founded in the 8th century.
A great MG run enjoyed by all ! Thank you to all that took part !

Martyr's village run & picnic - 4th August
Sixteen of us met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. Then nine MGs and one town car set off for a tour of the French countryside. A comfort break in the very clean toilets in Lesterps and then ending up at Montemart for a picnic lunch. We sat in the shade under the old market building in the square for our lunch.
After lunch many of us went on the the Martyr's Village at Oradour-sur-Glane. A historic site where 643 French were massacred by the German SS in 1944. As it was one of the hottest days of the year (+36 deg C) we didn't stay long in the village and soon adjourned in to the new town for a cold drink.
Welcome to new prospective members Dan & Glenda.
Big thank you to Mikey for organising this event and to all those that joined us on this very hot day.

Run & station buffet - 21st July
Sixteen of us met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. Then ten MGs set off through the country lanes to Limalonges.
Maggie and Tony did us all proud with not only a lovely drive through the countryside but a wonderful buffet on arrival at their 'Station House' in Limalonges. Derek & Jan joined us here.
Welcome to two new members - Nigel & Carolyn in their Orange/Red 1979 MGB GT.
Thanks to everyone who made donations - we raised €270 for the Hartcliffe and Withywood Community Partnership charity.

Lake run & Farm Visit - 7th July
Eleven of us met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. After coffee, six MGs (one MGB GT, two MGFs, one MGF Trophy 160 & two MGTFs) took a leisurely drive through the country lanes to Lac de Lavoud. Here we had lunch at Le Soleil Couchant.
After lunch we had a short run to 'Ferme de Javernac' (on the shores of Lac de Mas Chaban) where Katti gave us a tour of a working dairy farm. Here we met, not only the dairy cows, but also some very friendly calves (a few only days old). We were shown where they make cheese, literally straight from milking the cows and afterwards given a sample of their own cheese. Not only was it a delicious white cheese, but also very reasonably priced.
After buying some cheeses, some of us went back to the 'Beach' by the lake for afternoon refreshments before heading home.
It was good to see Brad & Jennine out and about in their MGB GT.

CMGOC away trip to the volcanoes - 20th - 23rd june
Monday. 5 MGs (one V8 MGBGT, one MGF, one MGF Trophy & two MGTF) met up at the Hyper Casino in Eymoutiers at 11:30. From here we headed off to Lac Vassivière for a picnic lunch and then refreshments at the cafe. Once fully re-invigorated we continued around the lake (passing over the dams) and on to the Grand Hotel in Le Mont Dore. In the evening we walked to La Grande Etable restaurant for a very pleasant meal.
Tuesday. We started off the day by a quick visit to the ski centre above Le Mont Dore. Very scenic and looking at the ski-lifts, cable cars ski-runs and anti-avalanche nets you could imagine what this would be like in winter. From here we headed off for a circular tour of our first volcano 'Puy De Sancy'. The views from here gave one the impression that they were on top of the world. From here we dropped down to Lake Chambon for coffee. Then onwards to 'Maison Du Fromage' for a very interesting presentation about the local cheese 'St Nectaire'. Onwards to Lake Pavin which is a volcanic crater meromictic (layers of water that do not intermix) lake. As the restaurant here was only doing main meals, we had a quick refreshment stop and then headed over to Super Besse Ski Station. Unfortunately, by the time we had had something to eat and drink it was to late to catch the cable car to the summit - so we headed back to the hotel. Finding a restaurant for 10 was not easy, but we ended up at a local Pizzeria for a very nice meal.
Wednesday. Lovely scenic drive through the mountains to 'Puy-de-Dome' (UNESCO site) where we took the train to the summit. Good views from the top of the surrounding volcanoes dating from 12 to 25 million years old, including the source location of Volvic bottle water. We had lunch in the restaurant at the summit. After lunch we headed back to the hotel and then walked over for a ride on the first electric funicular built in France in 1898. The views from the top and looking down to the town were very spectacular. The evening meal was at the Bistro across from the Hotel - very pleasant.
Thursday. After breakfast we all made our way home.
In summary: The roads were fantastic MG driving roads with excellent bends and twists, and for mountain roads in very good condition. An excellent few days away with good company and good food. A very big Thank You to John and Liz for all their hard work in putting together this wonderful trip away.

CMGOC @ Ferrari 500 Val de Vienne - 4th june
7 MGs, 11 members, supported the Ferrari 500 Weekend at the Circuit du Val De Vienne on Saturday 4th June. We parked up together in the middle of the circuit, so had 360 degree views of the races.
A very enjoyable day, our passes allowed us free reign of the site including the paddocks and the pits. We also walked around a lot of very nice, very expensive cars; Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bugattis (probably the most expensive being the Veyron - circa €3.5m), to name but a few.
This was also a good spectator circuit for watching the races; old F1 cars from the 1960's/1970's, F1 cars from the 1980's, Le Man's 24 hour race cars, plus a wide variety of cars; mainly Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches and Lotus, but it was also good to watch a couple of MGs racing.
After the air display, by a couple of Mirage's, the last of us headed home.
A big 'Thank You' to Maggie & Tony for not only suggesting, but co-ordinating this event.

Run to Jarnac - 5th May
Another lovely sunny day - 14 of us met up at 10:30 for coffee at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud. 7 MGs ( 1 MGA, 3 MGFs, 1 MGF Trophy & 2 MGTFs) & 1 non-MG.
We all set off to visit the War Memorial at Chasseneuil-sur-bonnieure. Which was built at the end of WWII in memory of the 1,465 martyrs of the Resistance and the fighters of the Charente and Charente-Maritime who fell in the field of honour. It is both a memorial of the Resistance and a national necropolis. Very impressive with some wonderful views of the Charente.
We then headed across to Mansle, where we had lunch at La Marmite. Good food and very reasonably priced.
After lunch it was a very pleasant drive through the vineyards to Jarnac. Here we were free to either visit the local museums, including the François Mitterrand Museum, or just enjoy Jarnac and the local cafes. We all then headed home.
Thanks to Ian & Lesley for organising this event and to all those that supported us.

President's Run & Charente Ales TourS - 21st April
We all met up in the car park outside of Camping Le Champion in Mansle. As the cafe here was closed, were walked in to town to the 'Le Colibri Snack Bar' for refreshments. 8 MGs (2 MGB Roadsters, 1 MGBGT, 2 MGF Mk 1, 1 MGF Trophy, 1 MGTF & 1 MG RV8) - 13 people.
Although the weather forecast was not brilliant it actually turned out to be a very sunny, warm day.
We set off from Mansle and headed across country through Tusson, stopping for a quick comfort break at Hanc (now merged with Valdelaume), before arriving at Charente Ales.
Kara very quickly produced 13 Cheese Burgers & Chips with a side helping of slaw. After lunch, we were given a conducted tour of the Charente Ales Brewery, which was very informative. We also got to taste their 3 main beers.
Many of us bought either bottles or 5lt kegs to take home and enjoy at out leisure.
Thanks to all those that supported us and we look forward to seeing you on the next club event.
