Run & Lunch - 9th October
The sun was almost out as 8 MG’s left Saint- Claud on Saturday morning (a warm welcome to three new members). We drove through the countryside via Ambernac and Hiesse before arriving at the campsite in Availles-Limouzine for a comfort stop. The sun was now out and we drove along the river to Millac, luckily not meeting any oncoming traffic as the road was only single track on the river bank in many places. We continued on to the restaurant in L’Isle-Jourdain, where we all had a good meal.
We then blocked the road for a while as the President tried bump starting his car, which promptly stopped again, even with the help of a local French lad the car would not start again (not enough juice in the battery)! Fortunately Intermarche was near by and we all parked there whilst Andy bought a new battery, fitted it and then joined us - normality was restored!
We continued on our way crossing the river in the town with a good view of the Viaduct (we decided not to join the Bungee Jumpers) and proceeded to the Circuit Val de Vienne. We stopped here for a photo opportunity and were entertained for a while as there was a sidecar qualifying session on the track.
We then all went our separate ways.
Thank you to everyone who supported this club event.

Circuit des Remparts, Angouléme - 19TH September
On the Sunday we had a CMGO Club stand in the centre of Angouléme. This gave us all an opportunity to show off our pride and joys to the public.
Although it did mean an early start, not only to get on stand before 9AM, but also to clean all the cars after the soaking the day before.
We managed a very respectable seven MGs on stand.

Club Remparts Rallye & Picnic - 18th September
Ten cars (nine MGs) met up at the cafe at Camping Le Champion in Mansle - from 10 with an expected departure at 11. It was good to meet up with the contingent from the UK, who had come over especially for the Remparts weekend and to some new members who have recently moved to France.
Due to a downpour, the departure from Mansle was delayed by 15 minutes, but when the rain eased we got going.
Our first stop was at the Tumulus De La Boixie. Which dates between 4500 and 3700 BC. It's a lovely tomb, even in the rain, with three chambers still contained with the large cairn. Handouts were passed out.
We proceeded through the country lanes to Saint-Amant de Boixe, where we stopped for a while and wandered around the Cathedral - very impressive stain glass window (see photo).
This was followed, without any rain, for a wonderful drive through the countryside to the picnic stop in Rouillac. Here we managed to have lunches in the relative shelter of the park.
After lunch it was a relatively short drive through the vineyards to Jarnac. Arriving just as the sky opened up and the rain set in.
Here, some headed off home wile others went to find a cafe, then home.

Run & Lunch - 2nd September
Good weather for our run on the 2nd September, 8 people took part with 5 MGs (1 nice sounding RV8, 2 MGFs, 1 MGF Trophy and 1 MGTF). We all started from Eric & Gill's house in Sauze-Vaussais with coffee’s and pastries supplied, David who travelled a long distance in his RV8 had a little trouble finding us but got there in the end with a little help from Andy’s traffic directions.
We all left at 11:15 for a leisurely 90-minute drive through the local countryside in glorious sunshine. We had a brief obligatory comfort stop after about an hour before arriving in Civray (on time without any break downs).
Lunch was at Hotel Du Commerce, which is located on the river bank with lovely views and delicious food.
After lunch we all got back in our cars for a short drive to St Macoux lake, where we had a relaxing walk around the shady lake.
A great MG run enjoyed by all ! Thank you to all that took part !

CMGOC Stand at Charente Ales - 28th August
The club had a stand at the Charente Ales Car, Bike and Agricultural day. An opportunity to show off the MGs and promote the club.
We had 4 cars turn up on stand.
It was an excellent day out and it was good to actually get to look at other cars and meet like minded car enthusiasts.

'Jack Commemorative Run' & Station Buffet - 18th August
Fifteen of us met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. Then six MGs (one MGA, two MGFs, two MGF Trophy 160's & one MGTF) along with some members in their 'day' cars set off through the country lanes to Limolanges, via Champagne Mouton (where Jack & Jill live). Our thanks to Tony & Diane for picking Jill up and bringing her along.
Maggie and Tony did us all proud with not only a lovely drive through the countryside but a wonderful buffet on arrival at their 'Station House' in Limolanges. Mike & Maria joined us here.
Here we raised our glasses and toasted to the memory of Jack, who without his input the club may never have existed.
Thanks to everyone who made donations - we raised £225 (plus gift aid will add another £56) for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Run & Lunch - 15th July
Andy & Sue, Eric & Gill, Ian & Lesley and Alan & Sarah met up in the car park opposite the cafe in Tourriers. Big welcome to new members Alan & Sarah who turned up in their MG6 (as their MGF is currently off the road). After a coffee we set off to Chez Renard.
At Chez Renard there is a memorial to 7 American airman who lost their lives when their B17 crashed on the 19th June 1944. Three airmen survived when the aircraft exploded, blowing them out of the aircraft. These airmen were rescued by the local resistance and slowly made their way to Chasseneuil. Purely by chance todays run follows their journey across France. A handout of their story was provided to all.
From here we took a scenic route towards Chasseneuil, before turning right to Vitrac. Then on through Mouzen to reach the restaurant "Le Soleil Couchent" at the lake near Pressignac for lunch. Brad & Jeannine joined us for lunch.

RUN & PICNIC - 1st July
Ian & Lesley, Andy & Sue and John met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud for coffee at 11:00. The three MGs then set off through the country lanes to Saint-Amant de Boixe, where we stopped for a while and wandered around the Cathedral - very impressive stain glass window (see photo). We then proceeded to the lunch picnic stop which was a roman amphitheatre "Gallo-Romain Des Bouchards", near Rouillac. The vistas from the site were fantastic and this must have been a very impressive building standing on top of a hill for all to see. Chris & Charlie joined us for lunch.
After lunch, we headed back to Ian's house for coffee and a very nice homemade Cheesecake with fresh red berries.
Thanks to Ian and Lesley for organising this run.

presidents run - 3rd june
We all met up at Les Tilleuls Cafe, St Claud, for coffee at 11:00. Special welcome to new member Gail in her MG ZS. Due to COVID restrictions the run was limited to 10 people. Brad joined us for coffee.
5 cars (4 MGs) set off to follow Andy around the country lanes. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day.
The run took us along the D172 then the D177 to Saint Gourson, on through Poursac, Chenon, Verteuil-sur-Charente to Ruffec. Due to the crossing in to Ruffec we reconvened behind Inter Sport and then set off to the restaurant, via Villefagnan.
Lunch was at the "Auberge du Noyer (known as the Walnut Tree) at Londigny. An English run restaurant, where we all sat, drank and ate on the outside terrace - again due to limitations we were spread over two table. Kassy (and her daughter) joined us for lunch in her Black MGTF 160 - we look forward to her joining the club and coming on future events.
Thanks to all those that supported us and we look forward to seeing you on the next club event.
