Run to Saint Jean D'Angeley - 20th August
The hot weather had cooled a little in time for Eric & Gill's run, 8 of us met at their house for coffee and pastries in Sauze-Entre-Bois, after our refreshments 5 MGs (1 x MGB GT, 1 x MGF Trophy, 2 x MGTFs & 1 x MG EHS) headed off for a leisurely drive through the countryside to our destination the O’jardin restaurant in Saint Jean d’angeley which runs alongside the river, 2 other members joined us there for a delicious lunch with excellent service.
After lunch some of us took a stroll around the river, some explored the lovely town, then we all made our own way home.

Run to Le Lac de saint Mathieu - 6th August
11 of us met up at Les Tilleuls, St. Claud for coffee. Then 6 MGs (1 x 1936 MG TA, 1 x MGA, 1 x MGF, 1 x MGF Trophy, 1 x MG ZS & 1 x MG EHS) set off across the countryside. We had a brief stop at the Chateau in La Rochechouart, overlooking the valley that was created by a Meteorite around 200 million years ago. Then a short drive to Chéronnac to check out the source of the Charente river. Then on to the Lac at Saint Mathieu for lunch.
After lunch a few walked down to the Lac. Then everyone headed home.

Run to Silver Mines, Melle - 3rd July
11 of us met up at the Café in L'Eclerc Ruffec. Then 7 MGs (1 x MGA, 2 x MGFs, 2 x MGF Trophy's, 1x MGTF & MG EHS) set of towards, Courcombe, then across country through Villefagnan, Longre, La Bataille, Lussais, Les VauxChef Boutonne, Saint Genard before arriving at Melle. Here we had lunch at Restaurant La Cote de Boeuf.
After lunch it was a short drive to the Silver Mines. Here we were given a conducted tour of the mines, learning how silver was originally mined in this area and what it was used for. Very informative. After this we all headed home.

CMGOC Away trip to Saumur - 16th to 19th June
Tuesday 16th. We all met up in Charroux for coffee. Then 11 people in 6 cars (1 x MG F, 2 x MGF Trophy's, 2 x MG TFs & 1 MG EHS) headed north to our picnic stop at Chauvigny. Lovely little lake, overlooked by the ruins of the castle. After lunch we headed off to the hotel in Saumur.
Saumur is the home of the Fench Cavalry, as well as being famous for its wine and mushrooms.
After settling in, we headed off to a local bar for a pre-dinner drinks before going to the restaurant.

Wednesday 17th. Everyone was given a choice as to whether the day exploring the local highlights of Saumur or go off on the 'optional' visit. Some stayed, some went to:
The Troglodyte Caves near Saumur offer a unique glimpse into ancient living. These fascinating caves carved into rock have been used for centuries. Some still serving as homes (up to only 100 years ago), while others have been transformed into shops and restaurants. Exploring these caves was an adventure that revealed the area’s geological history. The cool temperatures inside were a refreshing escape.
The Musée des Blindés. This museum hosts an impressive collection of tanks and armoured vehicles from various periods - tanks from World War 1 to the present day. The exhibits showcase more than 800 vehicles, making it the largest of its kind in the world.
In the evening, after pre-dinner drinks, we all went to a wonderful fish restaurant.

Thursday 18th. After breakfast, we headed off to Fontevraud-l'Abbaye for a look at this lovely little town and a coffee stop. The journey here was beset with problems as the area around Saumur is military and many of the roads had been closed off, as the army were playing war games.
After coffee, we headed across to the walled city of Chinon, Famous as it became a favourite resort of French Kings and Nobles from the beginning of the late 15th and early 16th century.
Due to the extreme heat, after lunch we headed back along the Loire River, with wonderful views of the cave houses in the cliffs overlooking the river, back to the hotel.
In the evening, we ended up at the same restaurant as Tuesday, but indoors this time.

Run to Chez Grafham - 4th June
We all met up at Guinguette Speakeasy Bar, St. Germain, Confolon at around 11:00. Here we all decided against visiting the castle, although we had a good view of it from the bar.
Then 4 MGs (1 x MGBT, 2 x MGF Trophy's & 1 MGTF) headed out on the D952, and on to the D729 to Adzac. Then across country to Millac, D11 to Luchapt, D34 to St. Barbant, the. headed towards Lavoir before turning off and heading to Chez Grafham for Lunch.
Maggie and Paul did us proud with a lovely chicken lunch.

Lacs Run - 7th May
We all met up at Les Tilleuls café, St. Claud for coffee. After refreshments six MGs (1 x MGB GT, 1 x MGF, 1 x MGF Trophy, 2 x MGTFs & 1 x MG EHS) set off through the countryside. Crossing the N141 at Chasseneuil, following the D27 to Vitrac-Saint-Vincent, then on the D173 to Mazerolles, then the D397 until we joined the D112 to Valence. Then on to La Cabine in Verneuil for lunch.
The Burgers were fantastic, although a little on the large size. After lunch it was a short run to Beach 16 at the Lacs for a short walk and an Ice Cream.
Brad found the restaurant and Andy created the route. Thanks to all those that joined us for this event.

Presidents Run - 9th April
We all met up at Les Tilleuls café, St. Claud for coffee. After refreshments four MGs (1 MGA, 2 MGTFs & 1 MGF Trophy) set off through the countryside, from St. claud along the D172 towards to Tierse, then on to Parzac, Turgon, before heading to Viaduc de Moulin-Robin (on the outskirts of Champagne Mouton) for a photo stop. After that it was across country to Barro, before arriving at the main carpark for L'Eclerc in Ruffec. Here we were joined by five other members for a very good, reasonably priced, lunch.
