Run & Lunch - 9 October
For those of you that are observant, this was originally planned for the 3rd October, but the President messed up the dates, so this was postponed for a week.
We met up at Les Tilleuls café, St. Claud. After refreshments, 5 MGs (1 MGB GT, 1 MGF, 1 MGF Trophy & 2 MGTFs) set off, crossing the N141 at Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure on the D27. We stayed on the D27 through Sameau to La Tàche where we joined the D16, then D27 and eventually the D50 to Le Lindois & Valence. Then D163 to Sauvagnac and Saint-Front. Then across country to Le Soleil Couchant (aka the Sun Shack) on Lac de Lavent, Verneuil.
Thanks to Brad for booking the restaurant.

Run & Lunch - 18 September
Originally this was planned as a run and picnic by the river in L'Isle Jourdain (86150). However, due to the uncertainty of the weather it was decided to find a restaurant in L'Isle Jourdain instead.
We all met up at the café in St. Claud as usual. The 5 MGs (1 x MGA, 1 x MGF, 1 x MGF Trophy, 1 x MGTF & 1 MG EHS) departed for a scenic route to L'Isle Jourdain. This was thwarted by the French having numerous protests and stopping traffic on main roads. But after an eventful cross country run we eventually all got together in the car park in L'Isle Jourdain. Then a short walk to the restaurant LOT 10, where we had a very pleasant lunch.
After lunch we took a short drive down to the river to walk off lunch.
Welcome to Peter & Vivienne Hopgood, potential new members. Thanks to all those that supported this event.

Run & Lunch - 21 August
5 MGs (1 MG BGT V8, 1 MGF, 1 MGF Trophy & 2 MG TFs) met up at the l'eclerc carpark in La Rochfecauld. Then John led us off through the countryside, passing the Chateau de Rancogne and the picturesque village of Marthon. We stopped briefly at the Othodox Church at Dumérac, before heading to Aubeterre-sur-Dronne for lunch, passing a 16th century chateau at Villebois-Lavalette on the way.
We managed to drive up through the town, which caused a lot of interest amongst the locals and tourists alike. Parking was interesting, as the car pars were full, but we managed to all squeeze in.
After lunch we visited the l'eglise souterraine, a church carved out of the rock face. Very large inside. We then explored the town on the way back to the cars and then home.
Thank you to John for organising this event.

Charente Ales - 9 August
The club had a stand at the Charente Ales Car, Bike and Agricultural day. An opportunity to show off the MGs and promote the club.
It was an excellent day out (although very hot - pushing high 30s) and as always the burgers and beer was good.

We all met up at a little café by the river in St. Germain (near Confolons). Due to the extreme heat (40 degrees C), we didn't stay long as we all wanted to get home before it got too hot.
A big thank you to Paul for the run and Maggie for the lunch.

Day 1 - Tuesday 24th June
4 MGs (1 MGF, 1MGF Trophy, 1 MGTF & 1 MG EHS) met up and left Ruffec at 09:00. We cut across country to L'eclerc in La Rochefoucauld where we were joined by an MG ZS. After this we headed out to a café just outside Nontron for a leg stretch and coffee.
After coffee we headed south through Perigueux (fun keeping 5 cars together through a busy town - but we made it unscathed), and then onto the picnic stop at Saint Leon-sur-Vezère. After lunch it was a very scenic drive past La Roque St. Christopher, which are cave dwellings in the limestone cliffs, with reconstructed scenes of daily life, dating back to the prehistoric times to Monpazier - where we stopped for another leg stretch and refreshments. Temperature ramping up into the mid 30s.
Then onto Agen to arrive at the hotel just after 5pm.
We met up at a local bar and then had dinner at Les Copains D'Abord restaurant.

Day 2 - Wednesday 25th June
Due to a day driving on the Tuesday, today is classed as a free day. Allowing everyone time to explore the sights and shops of Agen.
A few of us went out in the morning to Latour Marliac. Founded in 1875 for the commercialisation of hardy water lilies, it went on to create the market for water Lillies as ornamental plants. Allegedly the largest Water Lilly park in Europe. Also the inspiration for Claude Monet's famous painting 'The Water Lillies'.
In the evening we once more all met up at a local bar on then walked to 'Assiette au Boeuf' restaurant for dinner.

Medieval Picnic - 12 June
We met up at Les Tilleuls Café, St. Claud for coffee, then had a short run out to Brad & Jeannine's field for a medieval picnic. Although some of us wore costumes, it was too hot to stay dressed up for long, so everyone slipped into cooler clothes.
Thanks to Brad & Jeannine for organising this event.

Run & Roman Ruins - 8th May
We all met up at Les Tilleuls café, St. Claud for coffee. We welcomed Matt (secretary of the Preston MG club in the UK) who was visiting France and staying with some friends locally. After refreshments, Mikey led the convoy of 9 MGs away through the countryside (1 MGA, 1 MGB, 2 MGFs, 2 MGF Trophys, 2 MGTFs & 1 MG EHS) to Cassinomagus. Here we were able to tour the roman bathhouse at our leisure. The public baths are the surviving remains of a small Gallo Roman town, which now lies buried underneath the nearby village of Chassenon. The extensive 10,000m2 complex, with two large baths and numerous ancillary rooms, seemed a bit over the top for a small town, but we were informed that it also served travellers on the nearby important roman road linking Saintes, Limoges and Lyon. The Romans had used a strange burnt stone material for the construction - Chassenon breccia, which was produced 200 million years ago by the impact of a meteorite in the area.
The complex supported and emphasised hygiene, beauty care and physical exercise, and that the baths also served as a place of meeting and exchange.
Thanks to Mikey for arranging this event and to all those that joined us.

After refreshments eight MGs (1 MGA, 2 MGFs, 2 MGF Trophys, 2 MGTFs & I MG EHS) set off through the countryside to Aigre, via Cellefrouin, Saint-Front, Couture, Aunac-sur-Charente, Bayers, Fontenille & Ligné. At Aigre we had lunch at restaurant Le Square. An interesting lunch, the Plat du Jour comprised of a choice of 2-curries or Steak-Hauche - all of which came with pasta.
After lunch we drove over to Domaine Vilneau in Verdille, a local vineyard for a tour and a tasting session.
A big Thank You to all those that supported the first run of the year.
